FREEPORT - L.L.Bean will contribute $500,000 to the town's effort to develop athletic fields and recreational trails off Hunter Road, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday.
L.L.Bean's board of directors approved the donation Friday to help the company celebrate its upcoming 100th anniversary: It has been doing business on Main Street since 1912, said Carolyn Beem....

Opening Fall 2011
a new six-screen cinema complex with a 3D movie screen, will open this fall at Freeport Village Station. The Grand Opening is planned to
coincide with the fall foliage tourism season. The Nordica Theatre will be located in Freeport Village Station, at the corner of Mill and
Depot Streets, and will benefit greatly from the 550-space parking garage in the complex. All of the parking is free.
The Nordica Theatre will occupy space under the L.L. Bean Outlet store in Freeport Village Station. There will be six theatres, each with a
different seating capacity, but with a total capacity of about 728. All six of the theatres will have stadium-style seating and feature
state-of-the-art digital technology offering the best picture and sound quality, as well as the opportunity to offer alternative content on
demand. One of the six stadium-style theatres will feature 3D technology. The Nordica Theatre will be operated by Massachusetts-based Belmont

It's Been A While

Hello friends, we will try to send blogs out whenever. Please pass them along. Spring will soon be in Freeport, so we are told. Like most of you we have had a lot of snow. Right now there is about 24" still on the lawn and were we blow the snow about 48" cover the bushes by the windows.
We would love to see you all, come whenever you can fit us in. Here are a few events that might interest you.

What's Happening
I have been laid up for 6 weeks with a ruptured disc which I had removed this past Monday in a day surgery at Maine Medical. So I'm ready now to serve you all with this new lease on life.

We had one in January and one this weekend March 3, 4, and 5. The ladies have been coming for years now. This April 8, - 10 Cottonweeds Quilt Shop is holding their second QuiltingPortUSA Bee. Winter Fun

Do these pictures bring back earlier memories? I remember sledding down the hills where I grew up in CT on many a "cold winters morn". This spot is just 15 minutes from our doors. Pineland Farms as you can see from the link also offers rental ski equipment. There are other sites as well, LL Bean has similar adventures.

So plan to spend time with us and take advantage of the season.

We are looking to have "book writer weekends" or "Book Clubs" from many different styles and hopefully by this coming winter.
Do any off yopu know some accomplished writeres who would consider coming to Maine here at the Kendall and answer questions about past and future books they have written? We would love to have christian, mystery, poets etc.

These three and several others have been here at the Kendall Tavern while on tour in the great state of Maine. We have been helping out the Lighthouse events promotions under the direction of Jeff Wall. Other singers and bands are coming soon. The three above are Mark Harris, Laura Stroy and Bebo Norman all very accomplished in the Christain Music industry.

The newest addition to enhance your shopping pleasures is soon to open. May 15th the cluster of stores will be ready for the public. They say that up to 30 stores will be filling the "mall like area". It will be similar to the shopping area in downtown Boston.

One of the new stores coming is a Niki Outlet and they will be having a famous guest on the opening day. Stay Tuned. For further details click here.

We have been working on the barn to make it look inviting yet rustic. We even added a heater that works quite well too. Two weekends ago we had a Paulie Heath Girls Retreat use the meeting room and we were told it worked out well. Here is what it looks like. The area can be used for a lot of other activities as well, even weddings, music events or art shows(July 17-19). We can setup tables for working on your favorite projects like Scrapbooking, Quilting, Rug Hooking, Fly Tying etc. Loree wants to decorate the walls with some of her quilts to add color and charm.

Quilting Class 101 April 24, 25 taught by Karen McPherson. The class will help beginners.

Quilting Class June 19, 20 taught by Leslie Muir-Volpe..."Ever gawk in amazement at the miniatures displayed in quilt shows and magazines? Ever wonder, "How do they do that?" In this class you'll learn the "Twenty Tips for Tiny Quilts." We'll cover all the techniques of traditional quilt making, but adapt them to working small. Emphasis is placed on fabric selection, cutting, sewing, and pressing carefully for precision piecing. Our project for the day will be a "Charming Little Churn Dash" quilt. This old-fashioned block adapts well to petite quilts, and with the addition of corner stones, sashing, and that perfect border fabric, these little churn dash blocks are indeed "charming."
